Deidre Baker Hedrick, 78 formerly of Edina. Deedee, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend, died peacefully and comfortably with family on the morning of January 20, 2012. Preceded in death by beloved sons Paul Hedrick and William Hedrick, Jr.
Deedee shared a rich life of loving kindness in acts small and large. She was married to William L. Hedrick M.D. for over 54 years and together they brought seven eager children into this world. She taught elementary school before transferring to teacher at home and gave her enormous energy to raising her children and any from the neighborhood who strayed into the Hedrick household. She was active in the Our Lady of Grace Parish. Deedee was active socially in bridge groups, prayer groups, retreats, golf league and walks around local lakes. She and Bill were lifelong supporters of the arts.
Grandma Deedee was the favorite of her grandchildren and made all encounters wonderful with her gentle Irish blue eyes and warm smile. She was a super fan at any of her children and grandchildren's events.
Deedee grew up in Rochester, MN, the daughter of Earl and Mary Baker. Her siblings were always close to her life and her heart and include Mary Culhane, Marcia Schug, John Baker (Misty), Kathleen Baker, and Maggie Grill (Dennis). Deedee met Bill in Rochester during his internship at the Mayo Clinic. They enjoyed a love for life with adventures in travel alone and with family and friends. Bill is grateful for the enormous love and energy that Deedee shared with him. She was blessed with so many great friends who all had a special place in her heart.
Her children and grandchildren include son John and Leslie Hedrick (Jessica, Joe and Jack); son Robert and Ana Flavia Hedrick (Angelina); son David and Heather Kelly-Hedrick (Margot, Ian and Sophie); daughter Anne and Jeff Sarles (Rob, Paul and Mark); and daughter Patricia and Todd Magor (Cory, Madison and Will).
