Thomas John Nelson, age 51 of Burnsville on February 2, 2012.   John was born in St. Paul, MN on January 30, 1961 to Vernon and Evelyn Nelson. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survived by wife, Cindy; children, Thomas Jr., Joseph, Jennifer and Michael; grandchildren, Kaliana, Kole and Madelyn. Dr. Joseph M. Tambornino, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, age 80 of Edina, died peacefully with his family on January 31, 2012. 

Joseph was an accomplished physician of 44 years in the field of Orthopedic Surgery. He received his B. A. in 1953, and B.S. and M.D. in 1956, and completed his Board Certification of Orthopedic Surgery in 1966, all at the University of Minnesota.

He was in private practice with Orthopedic Surgeons Limited, from 1963 through 1996. He served on the hospital staffs of Fairview Southdale and Methodist Hospitals. He served as Chief of Staff and on the Fairview Southdale Hospital-Minneapolis Board of Trustees. He was Clinical Assistant Professor, Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota Medical School and was teacher of the Hand Surgery Specialty Clinic at HCMC.

Joseph was a devout Catholic, who attended Our Lady of Grace church in Edina for over 50 years.

Joseph had many favorite pastimes including golf, downhill skiing, and handball. His annual fishing and hunting trips with his wonderful friends were among his greatest memories. He loved spending time with his family at Rogers Point on Leech Lake. His deep love for his wife of 57 years, Cynthia, his 8 children and his 17 grandchildren was profound.  His family holds his generosity of spirit, faithfulness and loyalty fast in our hearts and with deep pride in the life he lived so well.

Born September 4, 1931, Joseph is preceded in death by son, Gregory and an infant son; brothers, Terry and Paul.  Survived by wife, Cynthia; children, Charles, Joseph (Caramia), Judy (Mike Cassidy) Tambornino, Mary (Jim) O’Hora, David, Jane (Dan) Bryant, Kitty (Victor) Oates; 17 grandchildren; siblings, John (Eve), Mary (Ron Usem) Tambornino, Jeanne (Jon) Forster; many nieces and nephews.  Mass of Christian Burial, 11AM, Friday, February 3rd at the Church of Our Lady of Grace, 5071 Eden Ave., Edina.  Visitation Thursday, 4-7PM AT OUR LADY OF GRACE and one hour prior to Mass.  Marcella M. Cowell, "Mickey" Age 92, of Minneapolis, passed away in her sleep on January 31, 2012 after a short bout with pneumonia. Preceded in death by husband, Harold; son-in-law, Terry Herman; sister, Gertrude Mahoney and brother, Thomas McGuire. Survived by children, Annette Herman, Paulette (Dennis) Treb and Patrick Cowell; grandchildren, Daniel and Sean Herman; loving family and friends and her bridge club. Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM Saturday, Feb. 4th at the Church of the Assumption, 305 E. 77th St., Richfield. Age 97 of Plymouth, MN.  Born May 15th, 1914 in Minneapolis, MN to Carl and Pauline (Anderson) Winthers.  Preceded in death by husbands, Robert Haley and Robert Fetterman.  Survived by children, Susan (Rey) Casanova and Tony (Jaimie) Buck; grandchildren, David (Laura), Steven, Morgan, Autumn, and John; great grandchildren, Amanda, Jeffrey, Dana,Brandon and Alex.  Funeral service will be Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11 AM ~ Gill Brothers New Hope Chapel, 7300 42nd Avenue North with visitation one hour prior to service.  Interment will take place at Crystal Lake Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to donor's choice.

Kevin died on Wednesday, January 25, 2012, age 59, surrounded by his family and friends.  Kevin was born on May 21, 1952 and grew up in Bloomington, where he forged life-long friendships with his fellow mischievous rogues.  He lived life to the fullest and was never far from getting into trouble, but did it with good-hearted flair, making delightful memories for himself, his friends and his family.  Kevin learned the cobblers trade when he was 14 and went on to own his own shoe repair businesses in Burnsville, Apple Valley and Eagan over the past 40 years.  Left to cherish his memory and tell the tales are his wife, Dynelle of Bloomington; mother, Marilynn of Burnsville; father, Robert of St. Paul; sister, Sherry and brother, Mark of Burnsville; niece, Lindsay of Mpls.; as well as other relatives and many friends.  Memorial gathering, Saturday, January 28th from 1:00-3:00PM at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 9947 Lyndale Ave. S.

Gherity, John A. “Jack”

of Burnsville, MN passed away peacefully January 20, 2012 at the age of 79.  Jack is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward.  Survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan; daughter, Kathleen (Kurt) Madryga; sons, David, Paul (Diane), John (Ann), Mark (Sue), Patrick (Lucy); 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandson and numerous nieces and nephews and brother, Tom.  Jack was a Korean War veteran, a CPA and a member of the Knight of Columbus.  He loved family dinners, movies, fishing, hockey and a good laugh. Deidre Baker Hedrick, 78 formerly of Edina. Deedee, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend, died peacefully and comfortably with family on the morning of January 20, 2012. Preceded in death by beloved sons Paul Hedrick and William Hedrick, Jr.

Deedee shared a rich life of loving kindness in acts small and large. She was married to William L. Hedrick M.D. for over 54 years and together they brought seven eager children into this world. She taught elementary school before transferring to teacher at home and gave her enormous energy to raising her children and any from the neighborhood who strayed into the Hedrick household. She was active in the Our Lady of Grace Parish. Deedee was active socially in bridge groups, prayer groups, retreats, golf league and walks around local lakes. She and Bill were lifelong supporters of the arts.

Grandma Deedee was the favorite of her grandchildren and made all encounters wonderful with her gentle Irish blue eyes and warm smile. She was a super fan at any of her children and grandchildren's events.

Deedee grew up in Rochester, MN, the daughter of Earl and Mary Baker. Her siblings were always close to her life and her heart and include Mary Culhane, Marcia Schug, John Baker (Misty), Kathleen Baker, and Maggie Grill (Dennis). Deedee met Bill in Rochester during his internship at the Mayo Clinic. They enjoyed a love for life with adventures in travel alone and with family and friends. Bill is grateful for the enormous love and energy that Deedee shared with him. She was blessed with so many great friends who all had a special place in her heart.

Her children and grandchildren include son John and Leslie Hedrick (Jessica, Joe and Jack); son Robert and Ana Flavia Hedrick (Angelina); son David and Heather Kelly-Hedrick (Margot, Ian and Sophie); daughter Anne and Jeff Sarles (Rob, Paul and Mark); and daughter Patricia and Todd Magor (Cory, Madison and Will).  Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday, January 25th at 11:30am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 5051 Eden Ave., Edina. Visitation at Our Lady Of Grace Church on Tuesday, January 24, 4-7pm and one hour prior to mass. Memorials to: William L.
