Beatrice “Beatsy” “Ann” Wefald, 70, died on March 2nd, 2011, in Prior Lake, MN from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease.

            Ann was born on April 11, 1940, to Olav Wefald and Walma Jorgine (Ovrom) Wefald, in Excelsior, MN.  She grew up with three brothers in Excelsior, Garretson, SD and Minot, ND; graduating from Minot Senior High School in 1958.  As a student at St. Olaf College, Ann married Galen McKibben on June 14, 1959; they were married for 11 years.  Ann earned her Bachelor’s degree in Marketing from the University of Minnesota in 1972.  She spent the majority of her career working for the State of Minnesota in the Department of Administration (purchasing division) until she retired in 2004.

Ann enjoyed listening to music, singing and loved to laugh.  She adored her family and friends and will be missed by many.  Besides her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her grandson Richard McKibben.  She is survived by her children, Michael McKibben (Christa), Alan McKibben (Nicole Bristol), Kelly McKibben (Cindy Ellis), and Erin Allard (Jay Vander Leest); grandchildren Chris, Rachel, Logan, Madeline, Ben, Payden and Adam; four great grandchildren, Katlyn, Kassie, Kylie and Skye; brothers, Knut (Joan), Jon (Ruth Ann) and Bob (Susan) Wefald;  Ann’s ashes will be laid to rest next to her parents in Hawley, Minnesota.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday March 12th in the McKenna Crossing Chapel 13810 Shepherd’s Path, Prior Lake, MN. Reception to follow.

The family sends a heartfelt thank you to Colleen Page, for being a loving friend and caregiver during Ann’s last years.  Also many thanks to the caring staff at McKenna Crossing and Allina Hospice.
