Obituary for Scott James Wanshura

Scott James  Wanshura
Scott James Wanshura, 52, of Maple Grove (formerly Bloomington), passed away on August 31, 2018 at J.A. Wedum hospice facility Brooklyn Park, MN after a long and hard battle with cancer.

Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday September 4, 2018 at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 7300 42nd Ave. North New Hope.


Scott was born in Minneapolis to Kathryn and Jim Wanshura on September 11, 1965. He graduated from Bloomington Jefferson High School 1984. He married Lynn Miller on January 1, 2017 in La Quinta, California. He graduated from Winona State University. He worked as a Sales Executive for Canvas Craft Inc. He was involved in youth coaching at many levels both in Bloomington and Maple Grove. He was an All-American baseball player at Winona State. He set numerous team and league hitting records while at Winona. His single season batting Average of .590 still stands as a conference record. Scott was inducted into the NSIC Hall of Fame 2004. He also played town team baseball for the state champion Bloomington Bulldogs and won a national championship in the USSSA Softball. Scott was an avid hunter, fisherman, golfer and outdoorsman.

Scott is survived by wife, Lynn; son, Joseph Scott Wanshura and wife Sarah; daughter, Katie Marie Bremner Winston and husband William; Stepchildren, Mathew and Sarah Anderson brother, Todd Wanshura and wife Kiki; parents, Kathryn and Jim Wanshura; grandson, James Joseph Wanshura. Many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
