Delmar Joseph  Griffin
Dearly loved husband and father, Del, age 93, of Richfield, MN, passed away quietly at home July 5, 2018. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Griffin (nee Adamson) of Rochester, MN, and siblings Lawrence, Bernadine “Bunny” Nessler, and Carol Breckle.

Del graduated from Rochester High School, Iowa State University (Civil Engineering) and the Illinois Institute of Technology (Electrical Engineering). During WWII he served as a US Navy Seaman, 1stclass, and radioman. After working for Northern States Power in the 1950s and supervising construction of Bloomington Lincoln High School in 1957, Del spent thirty years at Northwestern Bell Telephone, where he worked with Bell Labs to develop more efficient networks of telephone switching stations.

Devoted to his family, Del coached his sons’ youth baseball and basketball teams, designed and built his own camping tent trailer to take his family on memorable summer vacation trips, and eventually built his own cedar lake cottage, creating a family lakeshore home where he pursued never ending projects in his retirement, and together with his wife Joan spent many happy summers.

Survived by his wife of 66 years, Joan; his children Michael (Martha), Diane, Mark (Wendy), Barbara (Bill) Pace, Paul (Mary), Jack (Amy), and Mary Jo (Paul) Gregersen; nineteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and his siblings Walter, Marilyn Day, James, and Sharon Wilson.

Visitation at 9 AM and funeral mass at 10 AM, Wednesday, July 11 at Church of the Assumption, 305 East 77th St., Richfield MN 55423, followed by a light meal, and burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
