James Raymond Keller Jr.
James R. Keller Jr. (“Jim”) of Bloomington, MN, aged 82, born September 30, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN, died on May 28, 2018 at Wealshire of Bloomington. He is survived by his three sons, Christopher and husband Juan; Kevin and husband Gary; and Jeffrey and wife Heidi; four grandsons, Zachary, Joshua, Benedict and Leo; his sisters-in law, Mrs. Martha (Demetrios) Demetriou of Eden Prairie, Mrs. Nora (Roger) Pearson of Fort Meyers, FL and Mrs. Jane (Lowell) Baerenwald of Eagan; his siblings, Mrs. Mary Claire (Harvey) Krage of Winona, MN; Mrs. Anita (Tim) Hamm of Anaconda, MT; and Mr. Mike Keller of La Crosse, WI; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Mary Aline Speltz; his parents, Senator James R. Sr. and Luella Keller of Winona and his sisters Senator Patricia Kronebusch and Carol Joyce of Winona.

Jim was brought up on the family farm in Rollingstone, MN and graduated from Holy Trinity High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Mary, whom he married on August 17, 1957. He attended St. Mary’s College in Winona for two years before entering the United State Navy and served as a pilot. After he left the Navy, he was the private pilot for the J.R. Watkins family in Winona, and for North Central Airlines in Chicago. In 1966 he received a degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota and worked for Control Data Corporation and its successor, Ceridian Corporation, as a tax executive for most of his career, and briefly for HB Fuller. He was active in his parish, Nativity of Mary Catholic Church in Bloomington, as both a church council member and volunteer, as well as in Bloomington city politics. He was also a long-time volunteer at Loaves and Fishes and VEAP. He was an avid dog lover, fisherman, and tennis player. He bravely lived through the trials of Alzheimer’s with the sense of humor and optimism that infused his life.

Et lux perpetua luceat eis. Requiescat in pace.
