Dr. Michael DeMann, 85, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, passed away April 28, 2018, at Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota.

Michael Marcus DeMann was born on June 1, 1932, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He graduated from Minneapolis North High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Army. Dr. DeMann was in the National Guard and then served as a medic during the Korean conflict. After an honorable discharge, he attended the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities, earning a both a bachelor’s and Ph.D. degree in psychology.

On February 10, 1960, Michael married Carol Knutson of Hallock, Minnesota. Together they raised two sons and a daughter in Minneapolis and Edina. Dr. DeMann enjoyed a long career as an industrial psychologist, starting his own practice and working with prominent companies, including Dayton Hudson, Donaldson Company and Lutheran Brotherhood.

When not working, Michael enjoyed flying his Cessna 172, reading and spending time with family. He was an active member of Gethsemane Church in Minneapolis and is lovingly remembered for his extraordinary intelligence, strong work ethic and quick wit for storytelling.

Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel DeMann; brothers, Thomas (his twin who died at birth), Jim DeMann, John DeMann, George (Bud) DeMann, and sisters, Marge Johnson and Helen Mathieson. He is survived by Carol, his devoted wife of 58 years; children Jim (Sarah) DeMann, Susan (Wes) Olsen, John DeMann; eight loving grandchildren, Allie, Orion, Bridget and Cullen Olsen, Carlie and Ricky DeMann, and Maria and Tommy DeMann; and sister, Ann Stack.

Visitation Thursday May 3, 2018 4 – 7 p.m. at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave. So. Private interment will be held at Fort Snelling Cemetery. Memorials preferred to The Humane Society.
