Obituary for Jacqueline "Jackie" Williams

Williams, Jackie (Jacqueline)
Age 85 of Richfield. Passed away on February 1, 2018, born February 9, 1932 in Eveleth, MN. Upon the death of her father in 1934, she was raised by the Sisters at the Convent of Ste. Agathe near Winnipeg, Manitoba, for 2 years. Later she lived with her mother and sister on Park Point in Duluth until they moved to Minneapolis in 1942. Jackie graduated from Villa Maria Academy in Frontenac, MN, in 1949. She earned her B.S. and M.Ed. degrees in Education from the University of MN. Jackie taught in Fairmont and St. Louis Park, MN, and for the Department of Defense in Italy, England, The Netherlands and Turkey. Jackie traveled around the world with Micky Pearson spending time with friend, Ginnie Andrews, in Okinawa. She continued her career in the Minneapolis Public Schools and retired in 1992. Jackie, Micky and Ginnie bought a house in South Minneapolis and built a rock fireplace in their cabin near Grand Rapids, MN. They loved the northern lakes and woods and enjoyed canoe trips in the Boundary Waters. After 40 summers in the cabin on Inky Lake, it was time to leave and move to a small unit on the Mississippi River. Jackie was preceded in death by mother, Doris Williams, and sister, Carita Rick. Survived by "a nephew and 3 nieces whom she loved to pieces" (Steph, Doug, Michelle, Jay, and their families.) She was very thankful for longtime friends, Micky Pearson and Ginnie Andrews, friends from Girl Scouts, Annunciation Church, Gramercy Park Cooperative in Richfield and the Travelers Country Club on the Mississippi. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 5th at 11 AM, Church of the Annunciation, 509 West 54th Street. Visitation beginning at 10 AM. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Annunciation Church, Ursuline Sisters, 353 S. Sappington Road, St. Louis, MO 63122, The World Jubilee, or your local humanitarian organization.
