Age 86 of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, died on January 21, 2018. Born October 4, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Emil A. and Gladys M. (Wisen) Nelson. Preceded in death by wife, Jean (Scheekanoff) Nelson; son, Robert Whitney; brother, James W. Nelson; and sister, Maryann Nelson. Survived by children, Ray Whitney and Cindy Guenther; nephews, Tim (Suzi) Nelson, Jeff (Dawn) Nelson, and Greg (Kari) Nelson. Funeral service Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 2 PM ~ Gill Brothers New Hope Chapel, 7300 42nd Avenue North. Visitation beginning at 1 PM. Private interment ~ Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
