Winston D. Carpenter, age 87, of Bloomington, passed away surrounded by his family December 27, 2017. He was born August 24, 1930, the third, and youngest, child of Christine (Wood) and Warren Carpenter in Minneapolis, MN. He married Beverly Jane (Brass) in 1951. They were married until her death in 1994. Win was a loving son, husband, father, and friend. He was a man of deep integrity who could always be counted upon to help others. His word was his bond. He was most at peace in the outdoors. Never one to sit still for long, he was an avid mountain hiker, cross country skier, fisherman, bicycler, and scuba diver. Win was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and sister, Audrey June Haeg (Raymond) and is survived by his children, Catherine Mary, Winnelle Dorene (Paul), Cynthia Anne (James), Winston Dean (Christine), Randy David, and Nancy Beth (Raymond); grandchildren, Anna Marie, Sarah Catherine, Dustin William, James Thomas, Lynda Anne, Andrew David, Garrett Shea, and Alexandra Jane; great grandson, Caleb Thomas; brother, Warren Jean; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A special thank you from the family to Karen and Bruce Lawrence and the staff of Walnut Lodge where our father was cared for with compassion, dignity, and professionalism. Rachel Jacobson and her team at Allina Hospice were instrumental in easing his transition this past year. We are forever grateful for their compassionate and capable care of our father and our family.
