Obituary for Marianne Julius Hacker (Julius)

Marianne Julius Hacker (Julius)
Marianne Peppard Julius Hacker, age 72 of Burnsville. Born August 20, 1945 in East Orange, New Jersey; died September 5, 2017. Marianne grew up in South Minneapolis, the oldest of nine children in a lively household. She attended Visitation Grade School, and was a member of the first graduating class of Regina High School, in 1963. She received her RN degree from St. Mary’s Junior College in Minneapolis, MN. While out with her best friend Judy, she met a dashing Marine – John Hacker. The two of them dated, and married in 1969. The addition of three children, Jenny, Chris and Dean, completed their family. Now a bigger house was required. They found their new home in Burnsville, MN, where the kids grew up, and attended school. Marianne was still living there, hosting the annual two-day Julius family Christmas tradition, started by her parents. Nurturing was a key trait in Marianne’s life, both personally and professionally. While her children were young, she provided day care services in their home. After completing her training, she launched a career in nursing. She worked with memory care patients, and supervised the delivery of home health care. In Marianne’s world, everyone was welcome. Come as you are. She brought a positive and open outlook. She preferred listening to talking. People commented on how caring she was. Her heart was generous. Her family was at the center of it. She loved her patients, clients and their families. Hannah, her special fur buddy, was her daily homecoming. Marianne was a gentle soul – a warm, loving presence. Fortunately, the glow of that wonderful spirit is ours to keep. Preceded in death by parents, Jerome and Thelma (Peppard) Julius. Survived by children, Jennifer (Greg) Stumpf, Christopher (Gay) Hacker and Dean (Trisha) Hacker; grandchildren, Devon, Aireana, Abigail, Camilla and Cillian; siblings, Kathy Julius, Linda (Brian) Marinello, Jay Julius, Mike (Mary) Julius, Betsy Julius, Pete (Peggy) Julius, Barb Julius, and Debbie (Doug) Dimond; nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral Service 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 12th at Gill Brothers Funeral Home, 5801 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis with visitation from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Marianne actively supported many charitable organizations. If you would like to make a memorial in her honor, we invite you to contribute to a cause of your choice.
